Final group arrives at Sarnelli House

Joanne KeaneWell, it’s the sixth week of the 60th anniversary Thailand challenge and the last group met the children today and saw all the fantastic work the previous five weeks have accomplished. After seeing what week 5 managed to get done in just four days, the gauntlet has well and truly been thrown down for the ‘A Team’ this week - a particularly challenging task as we only have three days to complete a huge amount. But having now spent 24 hours or so (much of that on an interesting train journey in very enclosed spaces) I know this group will rise to the challenge.

dscf0807.jpgBeing able to celebrate the King’s birthday on Wednesday with the children and amazing staff at Sarnelli House will truly be something special and we plan to work extra hard to make up the lost day of work. We practiced the King’s song with the children this evening (they were fabulous, we had issues) and can’t wait to hear it for real on Wednesday.

That’s all for now, will write again soon.

Thinking about you all and hope you are enjoying the challenge as much as we all did last week. The time goes past so quick and the memories are all you have left but they are wonderful and I am sure we will treasure them for the rest of our lives.

    Hi Sally/Colleagues/Team/Family/Freinds!!!

I am having an amazing time it really is so great and I couldnt tell you about it in 100 e-mails (so I will teall you all when I get back in my usual short non elongated style when I return!!)

We painted the girls bedrooms today and we waited for them to come home to see how they would react to their newly decorated bedroom with new matresses and bed covers and it was amazing, what we take for granted really does mean so much to others and I had a massive hug and kiss from one of the girls for what we had done which really showed how much it meant to them.

Week six is an amazing team and we are carrying on from the work that the past 5 groups have done (well done guys you did a great job).

Thailand is fantastic and a real experience. Tomorrow is the kings 80th birthday so we have a day of celebration as it is a public holiday and we all have towear yellow in respect of this!

The kids are great, the work is rewarding and the days are fun and well worth the plane and train journeys!!

I also love the chang beer when we get home after a good days work but no suprise there!!

Hope you are all okay in Bristol and I will blog again soon, keep reading and see you monday!!!!!

    Love Shaun

Steve: sawadee Ka - I would like to thank everyone who has ever supported me through the years, Basil Brush, Jasper Carrott, Jonny Cash, Emu, Orville, the crankees (including Matt Hayward in a leading role), BA Baracuss, He-Man and Oliver Reed. Keep laughing, get drunk and have fun Shaun.

I really wish I was back sharing in all of those wonderful experiences at Sarnelli. I am back at my desk and cannot concentrate on the day ahead without going into my own world and reminding myself about last week as I am sure all of week 5 are…..you will all make new soul mates whilst you are out there that you will keep in contact with.
Jo you are an inspiration and should be so proud.

    Hi Jo

Glad your having a great time. (sounds as though you are). What did you all get up today with it being the Kings Birthday?
Missing Sarnelli - wish I was back there and sharing in this weeks experiences.
Having read Pams message - is the inside of the wall done. not we are paranoid about the wall! But if it is not done week 5 could come out and do it.
Derek said the box had been delivered have you had time to empty it. I think he thought it would be a good idea to save the “girls carrier bags” for Christmas as they are for older girls.
Good luck for the next day or so and have a safe journey back.
