About

Welcome Ceremony

BUPA is celebrating its 60th anniversary by organising an international community challenge for 60 employees at an orphanage in Thailand later this year.

The challenge will be part-funded by BUPA Community Connections, as well as fundraising activities.  It will offer employees the opportunity to go on the trip of a lifetime to volunteer at Sarnelli House, an orphanage in the jungle in northern Thailand.

The orphanage is funded entirely by private donations and is home to 126 children, most of whom are either living with HIV or Aids, or have been orphaned by the disease which is a growing problem in Thailand.

The volunteers will be chosen from BUPA businesses worldwide and specific details of this programme will be reported in a future edition of BUPA Today.

Six groups of 10 BUPA people, covering a period of six weeks, will volunteer in the orphanage and help the local people. Each week the volunteers will tackle a specific need within the orphanage or local community.  To name just a few, the activities will include creating a games area for the children, maintenance work within the orphanage and community projects, landscaping and road repair work.

We have read the blogs with great interest. All BUPA’s workforce will no doubt be very proud of all those involved. We wish Debbie Cook and all her week 3 colleagues a safe journey and a fantastic experience.
No doubt this unique experience will change some of your lives in a way you cannot yet imagine. We look forward to the blogs still to come
